Dark Circles: Are You Stuck with Them?
June 21, 2018
One of the most vexing problems faced by men and women alike is also one of the most commonplace: dark circles.
Women are a bit luckier here, as our society is much more accepting of females using concealer to try to cover these up. Very few men, no matter how desperate to get rid of their dark circles, choose this route.
The market is flooded with serums and special eye creams promising to get rid of dark circles. Actually, most brands don’t go quite that far in how they state their claims. While strongly suggesting dark circles will go away if you use their product, they’re more likely to say that you’ll see a “reduced appearance of dark circles.” Which is subjective.
Fact is, your dark circles won’t shift with any topical treatment. Meanwhile, you’ve wasted a significant amount of money on products promising otherwise.
Some dark circles are caused by temporary circumstances. These are usually too many late nights, too many boozy nights, or illness (they all often go hand in hand!). If you work hard and play hard, untreated dark circles are as good as permanent – at least until you have a major lifestyle overhaul.
Most people have inherited their dark circles the old-fashioned way: via heredity. If your parents or other blood relatives seem similarly afflicted, you’re stuck with them unless you treat them. You can brighten the eye area with products all you want, but most of us like to go without layers of makeup once in a while.
The good news: You can do something about dark circles – and the effect is immediate.
Dark circles are usually the result of how your eye’s orbital bone is structured, casting shadows where you don’t want them, and/or a thinning of the skin and loss of volume in the undereye area. This makes the blood vessels underneath stand out much more, giving that bluish hue to the skin around the eyes. As the undereyes are a very vascular part of the face, this is a commonplace issue for many people regardless of age.
SISU’s doctors are highly-skilled and practiced at concealing dark circles – without concealer, or surgery. Here’s how simple it is.
Using a small, fine needle, your SISU doctor will inject a thin layer of dermal fillers into the tear troughs of each eye. This lifts the delicate skin a small but transformative distance from the blood vessels, thus putting space between the surface of skin and the darkness. Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance created by the human body. This means allergic reactions are not a concern with dermal fillers.
We know what you’re thinking: No, this doesn’t give you puffy eyes. Dark circles go hand in hand with sunken undereyes, though you may notice the shadows more than the loss of volume. This minute amount of dermal filler smoothly skims the area, bringing just enough lift to make a massive difference.
No more looking tired and exhausted. No more looking haggard compared to your younger colleagues in work meetings. No more feeling sheepish when you skip concealer for trips to the gym (where the overhead lighting always exaggerates dark circles). Dermal fillers let you face the world with your best face forward – immediately, without makeup.
If you’d like to bid farewell to your dark circles without the downtime or expense of surgery, one of our doctors would be delighted to meet with you for a free consultation. Just call 021-4279438 or click here to book an appointment at one of SISU’s clinics in Dublin, Cork, or Killarney. What are you waiting for?
